Prime & Restart Policy

What is a Prime & Restart?

A “Prime & Restart” service is required when your oil tank has run out of fuel, and our delivery driver must restore your heating system to working order.
This involves bleeding air from the oil line, restarting the burner, and verifying basic operation.

Policy

  • Not Included with Fuel Delivery – Prime & Restart is not included in the cost of your fuel delivery unless specifically stated otherwise. It is a separate service billed at $25.
  • Performed by Delivery Driver – Prime & Restart is performed by your delivery driver as a courtesy service. Drivers are not licensed heating technicians and cannot perform advanced diagnostics or repairs.
  • Reasonable Effort, Time-Limited – The driver will make a reasonable attempt to prime and restart your system. If the system does not restart within a reasonable time frame, the driver cannot remain onsite indefinitely.
  • Service Technician Option – If a licensed service technician is requested after an unsuccessful restart attempt, additional charges will apply at our standard service or emergency rates.
  • After-Hours Rates – Calls made outside of regular business hours, weekends, or holidays will be billed at our after-hours emergency rate.
  • Customer Responsibility – It is the homeowner’s responsibility to monitor oil levels and avoid run-outs. Same Day Oil Delivery offers automatic delivery service with monitoring to help prevent future run-outs.

Disclaimers

  • No Guarantee of Success – We make every effort to restart your system, but success is not guaranteed. If your system fails to start or continues to shut down due to sludge, clogged filters, equipment failure, water in oil, or other conditions, you are still responsible for the Prime & Restart service fee.
  • No Responsibility for Secondary Issues – We are not responsible for frozen pipes, property damage, or secondary issues caused by an oil run-out, whether or not a Prime & Restart is attempted.
  • Driver Limitations – Drivers are not authorized or equipped to stay onsite for extended troubleshooting. A driver’s responsibility ends after a reasonable attempt to restart has been made.
  • No Warranty – A successful restart does not guarantee continued operation of the system. Failures related to dirty filters, nozzles, pumps, or other equipment issues are outside the scope of this service.
  • Access Requirements – Customer must provide safe and clear access to the boiler/furnace and oil tank. Unsafe conditions may result in refusal of service and a trip fee will apply.
  • Payment Requirement – Payment for Prime & Restart service is due at time of service. Fuel delivery must be paid separately.
  • Liability Limit – By requesting Prime & Restart service, you agree that our liability is limited to the cost of the service itself and does not extend to consequential damages or additional costs.
